Camping

A couple of weeks ago Matt took Reagan on a spontaneous camping trip to the Russian River. It was her first time camping....but definitely not her last!! In true McNichol fashion, she LOVES camping. In fact, when Matt told her they were staying for two nights, she told him he was "SOOO sweet!"

She loved pretty much everything about their two days in the wilderness. Sleeping in sleeping bags in the tent, skipping rocks at the river, not having to comb her hair, and playing with her new friends (the family camping right next door had two girls around Reagan's age)

Many people have commented on how "brave" Matt is for taking her camping alone. I'm actually one of those people! However, I did enjoy the stories of the "awkward" situations that arose during their trip. One day at the river, Reagan said she had an "oopsie daisy," which is a phrase she coined for when she accidentally pees in her pants. Matt told her it's actually OK to pee IN the River. He told her to just say "I'm going swimming now!" and walk to the river and pee. She seemed to like this idea and a short time later announced "I'm going swimming now!" Matt watched as she walked ankle deep into the river, squatted a tiny bit, and began peeing - in plain sight of all the other river goers! She later informed Matt that when she grows up she's "going to pee standing up" like he does.

My favorite story though, is Reagan's reaction to Jimmy Buffet. Matt was playing his Jimmy Buffet Live CD in the car on the way up. At one point Jimmy Buffet yells out to the crowd "How's everyone doing tonight?" Apparently Reagan thought he was specifically asking HER - so she replied with "I'm alright. I didn't wear socks though so my shoes are hurting my feet!"
And later that night when the same part of the CD played again, she advised everyone "I'm doing good, thanks!"

Reagan had the time of her life during her two days away with Daddy. I forsee many camping trips in our (or at least THEIR) future! In the meantime, Charlotte and Mommy had a great time at home not doing much of anything during those 2 days!
